🎁Staking & Rewards

Token holders are able to stake their OGY and gain rewards by participating in governance. Rewards will come from the ORIGYN Reward Account, which ORIGYN will seed with one billion OGY. The reward pool consists of 250 million OGY in its first year and will halve every two years to incentivize and reward early and long-term contributors of the ecosystem. Thus, the staking reward pool amount will be as follows:

Requirements to receive rewards

• Minimally stake ORIGYN SNS neuron with 888 OGY (see how to stake)

• Set dissolve delay to at least 1 year

• Actively vote on SNS proposals

  • Users can either vote themselves

  • Or users can follow other neurons to delegate their vote

The Technical Calculation of Rewards:

As the ORIGYN tokenomics are deflationary and the SNS framework doesn't include a deflationary mode, a custom reward canister was developed. It works as follows.

The ORIGYN SNS has a minimal integrated reward of 0.01%. This allows neurons to accumulate maturity when they participate in voting on the ORIGYN SNS governance. The rewards canister synchronises the maturity of each neuron daily and then calculates their reward share accordingly. Once per week, the accumulate maturity of each neuron is combined to calculate the share of rewards that each neuron is eligible for.

⚠️Note: The neuron's receive maturity on the NNS dApp every time a proposal is finished. This is a marginal amount and serves as the basis to calculate the actual OGY rewards on the OGY dashboard. The rewards on the OGY dashboard are allocated once per week and are claimable via the dashboard.

Once the reward share are calculated for each neuron, their OGY rewards are deposited to a subaccount on the rewards canister dedicated to each neuron. So the account where the deposit is done is Account { owner: "yuijc-oiaaa-aaaap-ahezq-cai", subaccount: <neuron-id> }.
